Wishes This Year

Specific Items and Programs That Need Your Support

This time of year, we reflect on what we have accomplished and we set our goals for the next year ahead. We are very pleased with the growth we have experienced in 2017 through fundraising efforts. We have added the event Aces & Races, which was greatly successful for our organization. Estate Planning was also put in place and its results have been building rapidly. We are most excited about the expansion of our programs going into 2018, specifically our food pantry.

We received approval from Island Harvest to add a new food pantry location, appropriately named the ADD Community Food Pantry, to our list of services. We’ll be moving from the current Aquebogue residence to a more accessible location. The ADD Community Food Pantry will be located in downtown Riverhead on East Main Street, where our services are most needed. While this move is in the works, we still need your support. Consider donating to this program specifically. Read more about it on our website by clicking here.

Additionally, we encourage you to read about another one of our program locations, the Northville Sensory Gardens. This beautiful place is a retreat for our residents, to give them a park to enjoy for outings, picnics and even animal interaction. The Northville Sensory Gardens also serves as a farm. It is home to sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, two miniature horses and a Newfoundland puppy. Click here to read more about it.

Finally, our team would like to share with you our ADD Wish List. Our directors and managers compiled items on an official Wish List, which is presently displayed in the lobby of our main office. It will be displayed at all of our fundraising events with the hope that some of our wishes will be fulfilled by sponsors and donations. We’ve had a few wishes granted this year and they made a huge difference.

Please take a moment to consider supporting the work of Aid to the Developmentally Disabled (ADD) to create an environment whereby people with a range of abilities are actively encouraged to develop and direct services that recognize their unique desires, ambitions, values and abilities.

No matter how you choose to help, your support of ADD can help our agency continue to provide the highest quality of care to the individuals that we serve. Individual contributions allow for the development of important programs to provide services that are not funded by other sources.

We rely on the support of our community to reach our goals. To learn more about the ADD organization, residential housing, job opportunities and advocacy groups, browse our website or call 631-727-6220 ext. 203.
