GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Under the immediate supervision of the program director the residence manager is responsible for the continuous day to day administration of the IRA.

 

Responsibilities

Supervises and evaluates direct care staff in accordance with established objectives and standards of performance.

Participate in the development of the individual program plans.

Assists residents in meal preparation and planning.

Acts in the capacity of a role model for residents and other staff. Becomes actively involved and assists the residents in developing the skills and attitudes that will encourage progress.

Notifies the program director of any emergency.

Oversees the implementation of required fire drills and completes required documentation.

Provides effective direction and supervision with staff.

In conjunction with nurse, schedules required and/or needed medical appointments and arranges transportation. Ensures all medical follow-up is completed.  Ensures medication for residents is available.

Ensures the maintenance of the residence and reports any major repairs required.

Facilitates evening and weekend recreation activities.

Maintains residents accounts and is responsible for documentation of such accounts.

Provides orientation to new staff and insures new staff attend required training classes.

Maintains clean and safe environment at the residence.

Maintains communication with families, advocates, case workers, and other providers involved in resident care.

Maintains effective staff schedules.

Coordinates all vacations and days off of staff, maintaining master schedule for vacation and holidays. Ensures 24-hour coverage at residence.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professionals involved in special rehabilitation programs for the developmentally disabled

Knowledge of the nature and needs of developmentally disabled people.

Excellent Communication skills to confer with administrative supervisors regarding administration of residence.

Must be able to maintain professionalism.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in education or other human services or graduation from a standard high school with at least three years experience working with the developmentally disabled.

Valid New York State Driver’s License required.

Must be A.M.A.P certified.
