Press Release – April 23, 2018: Aid to the Developmentally Disabled (ADD), was recently awarded $2,500 from People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, for the recently expanded ADD Community Food Pantry in Riverhead. The Community Food Pantry – located at 901 East Main Street, Suite 500 in Riverhead– is open every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and residents can learn about pantry updates through Island Harvest’s website and other community postings. The grant will help fund location improvements and cover additional staff expenses as the program expands.
“People’s United Community Foundation is proud to support the ADD Community Food Pantry, and to help improve the locations’ services in response to the hunger relief efforts in the Riverhead community,” stated Karen Galbo, Executive Director of People’s United Community Foundation.
The new downtown location has experienced an increased demand due to its accessibility both for food deliveries and the community. ADD’s food pantry is open to everyone who may need assistance, does not limit food amounts or require identification to pick-up food. The food pantry is also utilized by ADD residents, who regularly rely on the organization to supplement their weekly needs of food and toiletries.
